Levels
You may take:
- First Certificate in English (FCE)
FCE is an upper intermediate level examination. It indicates that your level of English is sufficient for practical use in clerical, secretarial and managerial jobs in many industries.
You can communicate effectively in most social and travel and some work situations. You can use all basic grammatical structures and some more complex. Your range of vocabulary is sufficient to express yourself clearly.

- Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
CAE is an advanced level examination. It recognises the baility to communicate with confidence in English in most everyday situations, include work and academic contexts.
You can communicate fluently in social, travel and work situations. You have a good operational command of English using an extensive range of vocabulary and complex grammatical structures effectively.
We ask all Cambridge students to complete a qualifying test before you start your program to make sure that you are taking the right exam for you.
Program details
In the morning classes students use Cambridge Preparation coursebooks. Study is intensive and includes examination skills and practice.
In the afternoons students choose from these Cambridge Special Focus Modules:
- Cambridge Speaking and Listening
- Cambridge Grammar
- Cambridge Writing
- International Business English
For the last 4 weeks of the program all students take an exam skills and practice module in the afternoons.

Special Focus Modules
Carole first chose International Business English to prepare for her internship. On the advice of her teacher she later chose Grammar and Examination Skills.
English Extras
Carole attended Business Seminars, learned how to dance Salsa and discovered Sydney on many of our excursions and social activities.
After ELC
Carole successfully completed a 4-month internship in the Marketing Department of a leading Australian company.
