need IELTS for migration to Australia. The ELC-IELTS Express (General Training) course is designed for students who intend to take the IELTS General Training module. This is not the academic module for university but is the preferred IELTS module for applicants for Australian permanent residency as required by the Department of Immigration.

From January 2010 all GSM (General Skilled Migration) onshore applicants who nominate a trade occupation will be required to achieve a minimum of IELTS 6.0 (Competent English) in each of the four components. So, if you are in Australia now and planning to apply for permanent residency this will affect you. From July 2009 this will apply to all offshore applications. So, if you are coming to Australia and planning to apply for permanent residency this will affect you.

You will...

• study Tuesday and Thursday 6.00-9.00pm
• focus on all four skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking
• learn test-taking skills with tips for success

Our teachers are experienced IELTS tutors and many are IELTS examiners. They understand that you need to make progress quickly and are determined to make sure that you achieve your goal.

Level test and study plan

You will take a test at the start of the program and be given a personalized study plan so that outside class you can continue to work towards the IELTS score you need with the goal of achieving at least a 6.0 in all papers.

• Independent learning centre access and practice tests 5.00-6.00pm Tuesday and Thursday
• Practice test Saturdays free to IELTS Express students

Every fourth Saturday we run practice test days at ELC. If you are enrolled in the ELC IELTS Express course you may attend these days for free and at a discounted price once you have finished if you need more test practice before your exam.
